Vietnam - Danang 4/5/16 Marble Mountains

07:04

Last Day in Danang! Time flies when you are having fun.. Anyway, we decided to ascend to the top of Marble Mountain. Marble Mountains is a cluster of 5 hills made of limestone and marble. It is situated between Hoi An and Danang. We took a cab there in the morning as we would prefer to trek up the mountain before the sun is at its most vicious. For those who have difficulty climbing, there is a elevator which takes you up the mountain (for a small fee of course).

Stairs...............

The marble mountains is home to several Buddhist and Hindu grottoes. Along the way, we see plenty of statues and carvings of religious scenes carved out of the marble.

There are several cave entrances to tunnels in the mountain. Some of them are quite narrow and steep so be careful when you attempt to climb them.

This way up

After 20-30 mins of climbing, we finally reached the peak of the Marble Mountain! Of course, this is only one of the 5 mountains.

Besides the peak, there are also several pavilions around the mountain top which offers spectacular view of Danang as well as the coast. After spending 1-2 hours exploring, we decided to call it a day and return to our hotel.

Relaxing at My Khe Beach

In the afternoon, we finally succumbed to our temptations and decided to head out to the beach to rent one of those beach chairs to relax. There are beach chairs all along the coast and thus you need not worry about not it being full. For the rest of the day, we spent our time at the beach reading our novels and drinking coconut juice. The weather was permitting and although it was sunny, we did not get any sun burn that day. The sea breeze blowing lightly on us was so relaxing and before we know it, it was time to say goodbye to this lovely city and its beautiful beach.
Danang and Hoi An took us by surprise and it was a very refreshing experience. Be it walking along the beach with its soft sand, admiring marble statues at Marble Mountains, tasting local Vietnamese cuisine or soaking up historic vibes in Hoi An, Danang is the place for busy city dwellers like us to escape to and slow down our pace. It's been fun, see you peeps in a while!
